Obituary of Jeffery Slaybaugh

Jeffery Edward Slaybaugh, 43, passed away Friday, June 20, 2024, after a long illness. Born on January 7, 1981, in Wilmington, NC, he was a son of Clarence Edward Slaybaugh and Pauline Walker Musgrove. Jeffery lived a life brimming with bravery and dedication. Before being medically retired, Jeffery served his community with unwavering commitment and valor as a fireman and law enforcement officer. His courage was not confined to his profession; he was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Jeffery's passion for helping others was matched by his love for adventure. Along with walking his dog, Jeffery was an avid scuba diver, hunter, and boater, he found joy and solace in nature. Survivors include a son, Jackson Slaybaugh of Mt. Pleasant; his son's mother, Elizabeth Slaybaugh of Mt. Pleasant; mother, Pauline Walker Musgrove of Georgetown; father, Ed Slaybaugh (Deb) of York Springs, PA; two sisters, Penny Melton of Wilmington, NC and Michelle Slaybaugh of Gettysburg, PA; a brother, JR Slaybaugh of Gettysburg, PA; special cousins, Karen Elizabeth Corieri (Robert) and Bethany Corieri all of Georgetown; uncles, Robbie Walker and Ben Walker both of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and other special cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Maxine Walker; step-father, Bo Musgrove; and one uncle, Lewis Strickland. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
