Obituary of Shirley Gailey

Shirley Ann Lambert Gailey, 81, widow of Thomas D. Gailey, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Compass Post Acute Rehabilitation. Born on November 15, 1942, in Georgetown County, she was a daughter of the late Tillman Lambert and the late Frances Ward Lambert. Mrs. Gailey was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. When physically able, Mrs. Gailey’s favorite pastime was fishing, hunting and working in her flower bed. Everyone that knew her was familiar with her love for talking on the phone. She had a nightly call routine with her friends and prayer partners. Mrs. Gailey had an obsession with jewelry. She found immense joy in spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Along with her obsession with jewelry, Mrs. Gailey loved a challenging word search. Survivors include three children, Patrica Ward (Leroy), Kerry Terry (Jan) and Ron Terry, Sr.; loved as her own, Dallas Gailey (Brenda) and Teresa Davis (David); eight grandchildren, Erica Ward (Jason), Rena Casselman (Gilbert), Chucky Irwin, John Irwin (Brittany), Kathy McPherson (Andy), Jr. Terry, Amanda Terry and Ron Terry, Jr. (Eliza); six great grandchildren, Hayden Casselman, Emili Payton Ward, Jase Ward, Summer McPherson, Savanna Irwin and Summer Irwin; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Norman Lambert (Willie Jean); her fur baby, Foxy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Irwin; daughter-in-law, Karen Terry; a granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Irwin; three sisters, Rena Lambert Long, Mary Estelle Lambert and Nellie Sue Evans; and six brothers, A.J. Lambert, Monroe Lambert, Paul Lambert, D.K. Lambert, and Clifford Lambert. Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Holmes Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
