Obituary of Pastor Tommy Cox, Jr.

Pastor Thomas Roland “Tommy” Cox, Jr., 73, beloved husband of Ginny Mixon Cox, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home. Born on September 13, 1950, in Kingstree, he was a son of Aleen Driggers Cox Salter and the late Thomas Roland Cox, Sr. Pastor Tommy led the Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church with unwavering faith, compassion, and a deep commitment to his congregation for 23 years. His guidance and wisdom touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those he ministered. Pastor Tommy was a respected member of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church Conference and devoted his life to spreading hope and nurturing the spiritual growth of not only his congregation but everyone he knew. Beyond his pastoral duties, Pastor Tommy found joy in the simplicity of life. He was an avid gardener, taking pride in his meticulously cared-for yard and the vibrant flowers that he grew. A true family man, he cherished moments with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren, often found cheering from the sidelines at their various sporting events. Pastor Tommy was also a passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Gamecocks. His spirit will forever live on in the teachings he shared and the community he nurtured. He was a dedicated servant of faith and a beacon of light. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; mother of Andrews; four children, Landy Cox (Lori) of Moncks Corner, Sherrelle Abbott (Bruce) of Andrews, Ashley Cox (Lauren) of Myrtle Beach and Stan Foster (Mindy) of Georgetown; eight grandchildren, Kamryn Smith (Nick) of Daniel Island, Kade Lunsford (Jessica) of Georgetown, Courtlyn Cox of Moncks Corner, Landyn Cox of Moncks Corner, Emma Grace Cox of Myrtle Beach, Ivey Cox of Myrtle Beach, Eden Foster of Georgetown and Sarah Foster of Georgetown; one great granddaughter, Noa Ruth Smith of Daniel Island; two sisters, Linda Fulton (George) of Andrews and Angela Causey (Steve) of Andrews; one brother, Roger Cox (Debbie) of Georgetown; his beloved fur baby, Remii; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM Sunday, May 12, 2024, at The Sanctury at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at The Sanctuary at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
