Obituary of Mark Edward Young

Mark Edward Young, 59, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Mark was born on September 20, 1964, in Georgetown, the son of Elaine Elliott Young and the late Jessie Boyd “Dick” Young. He was a former firefight/EMT and worked with Wild Water and Wheels and Myrtle Waves Water Parks as a Safety and First Aid Manager. Mark lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his mother of Georgetown; his girlfriend, Marge Muller of Myrtle Beach; a son, Randy Akers (Jackie) of Georgetown; a nephew; Brandon Barfield of Georgetown; a great nephew, Blake Barfield; two aunts, Susan Lowrimore (Henry) of Georgetown and Eunice Kennedy of Georgetown; and two uncles, Lonnie Elliott, Jr. (Peggy) of Beaufort and Joe Young (Cynthia) of Florence. He was preceded in death by a sister, Melissa Barfield. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
