Obituary of Chispa Cameron Lewis

Chispa Sue Cameron Lewis, 88, widow of Alvin L. Lewis, Jr., passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Lewis was born on October 2, 1934, in the Pleasant Hill Community, and was a daughter of the late Harry N. Cameron and the late Margaret Moore Cameron. She was a member of Screven Baptist Church where she served on various committees, taught Sunday school for 50 years, and was a part of the Deborah Sunday school class. Mrs. Lewis was an AVON representative for 45 years and enjoyed helping others, cooking, fishing with her husband, and spending time with her friends and family. Survivors include three children, Al Lewis (Caroline) of Andrews, Chip Lewis (Mandy) of Georgetown, and Marie Riggins of Pawleys Island; four grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Johnson of Pawleys Island, Dr. Lee Lewis (Amy) of Charleston, Chuck Lewis (Maggie) of Summerville, and SSgt. Jameson Hubbard of Dover, DE; four great-grandchildren, Charlie Lewis, Grace Lewis, Clark Lewis, and Wren Lewis; one brother, Danny Cameron (Stella) of Georgetown; one sister, Sherry Cunningham of Hemingway; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Monte Riggins; and a great-grandson, Dominic Johnson DeAngelo. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Screven Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Screven Baptist Church, 2221 S. Island Rd. Georgetown, SC 29440 or Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
