Obituary of Lenora Hambrick Sherrill

Lenora Hambrick Sherrill, 88, of Georgetown, SC entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at her home. Lenora was born on April 21, 1934, in Eastman, Georgia to the late Willard Singleton Hambrick and Gussie Lee Pace Hambrick. She is survived by a son, Dr. Ted Allen Sherrill (Ann) of Georgetown, SC; granddaughter, Kathryn Vail Post (Chris) of Seattle, Washington; grandson, John Sherrill of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter, Jennifer Sherrill Holly (Robert) of Houston, Texas; and great grandchildren, Violet Holly, Wells Holly, and Xander Holly. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Allen Merrick Sherrill; daughter, Terrie Sherrill Vail; brothers, Jack Hambrick, Leland Hambrick, M/Sgt James Hambrick and Johnny Hambrick. Mrs. Sherrill, formerly from North Charleston, South Carolina, was employed at Naval Weapons Station Charleston where she served 20 years as Administrative Assistant in the Chaplains Office and retired in 1990 as a Management Assistant in Management, Engineering, and Information Department. After retirement, she and her husband went on an awesome 28-day bus trip across America. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips and cruises. She was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church, North Charleston for over 50 years and served in many areas but especially enjoyed her ministry with the “Go-Getters” (senior adult ministry) and church hostess. She also went on mission trips to Romania, Trinidad, New England, and West Virginia. She was a member of American Business Women’s Association, Deer Park Civic Club, and Lowcountry Beekeepers. Lenora moved in 2013 to North Carolina to live with her daughter, Terrie. While living with her daughter in Salisbury, she was an active member at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church. When her daughter passed, she moved in with her son and his wife in Georgetown. She is a member of First Baptist Church where her son is pastor. Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2 PM, officiating will be her son, Dr. Ted Sherrill. The family will receive friends in the church parlor one hour prior to the service. Burial will be on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 11 AM, in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery, in Lenoir, NC with services conducted by her son, Dr. Ted Sherrill.
