Obituary of Joshua Smoak

Joshua Allman Smoak, 38, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Born on April 6, 1984, on the side of Highway 17 in Wilmington, NC, he was the son of Gary Anthony Smoak and Christie Jane Cederberg Smoak. Joshua attended 4 Pillars Church in Surfside Beach and enjoyed BMX biking, skateboarding, playing video games and most of all, spending time with his daughters. Survivors include his mother and father of Linden, NC; two daughters, Kaylie Smoak and Lillie Smoak and their mother, Billie Jean Crowe all of Surfside Beach; one brother, Daniel Smoak of Dunn, NC; two sisters, Amie Norquist and her husband Jason of Spring Lake, NC and Lacie Smoak of Linden, NC; paternal grandmother, Christine Smoak of Andrews; two nephews, Jason Norquist and Ethan Norquist both of Spring Lake, NC; five nieces, Allie Norquist of Spring Lake, NC, Elise Norquist of Spring Lake NC, Brittanie Smoak of Linden, NC, Danielle Smoak of Linden, NC and Lovely Smoak of Dunn, NC; three aunts, Ruth McDevitt and her husband Pat of Lake Erie, PA, Rev. Corliss Woodson and her husband Sam of Chester and Pam Mooneyham and her husband Ray of Sumter; and one uncle, Rogers Smoak and his wife Sharon of Andrews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lawrence Smoak; maternal grandparents, Richard and Evelyn Cederberg; an uncle, David Cederberg and a nephew, Daniel Smoak, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Earles United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
