Obituary of Joseph Thomas "JT" Martin

Joseph Thomas “JT” Martin, 94, husband of Miriam Prevatte Martin, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at NHC Healthcare Garden City. Mr. Martin was born on December 19, 1927, in Horry County, to the late M. Goodwin Martin and the late Addie Pope Martin. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a US Army veteran. Mr. Martin spent his career working as an accountant, starting with International Paper Company and later owning his own accounting firm. Working with Altman & Associates, J.T. finished his long accounting career at the age of 91. He was a member of various organizations that included the Moose Lodge and American Legion. Mr. Martin was a former board member for the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs. He enjoyed working, gardening, and traveling. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Michael Martin (Lucia) of Columbia, MD and Amy Martin of Georgetown; one granddaughter, Deirdre Martin (Jackie Clark) of Portland, Maine; and one daughter in law, Dawn Martin of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Martin; one sister, Mary Law; and two brothers, Ancil Martin and Joe Martin. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Georgetown with Pastor Greg Martin officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1605 S. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
