Obituary of Donnell Tanner

Donnell T. Tanner, 84, wife of Charles M. Tanner, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021, at her home. Born on November 29, 1936, in the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown County, she was the tenth of thirteen children born to the late James Perry Tanner and the late Lillie Cribb Tanner. Mrs. Tanner was a member of Center Baptist Church where she was a pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was a talented artist and avid writer of poems that intertwined her love of God's nature and His love for us. Mrs.Tanner wrote songs that reflected her deep faith in Christ and kept alive the lost art of writing letters by composing many letters of encouragement to family and friends. As a young woman, she enjoyed playing basketball and softball for many years. Those here to carry on her legacy include her husband of 63 years of Georgetown; two children, Lil Tanner Martin of Georgetown and Cale Marion Tanner (Robin) of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Center Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Worthington and Rev. David Dinkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Center Baptist Church.
