Obituary of Charles F. Johnson, Jr.

Charles Foster Johnson, Jr., 75, husband of Bonnie Huggins Johnson, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his home. Born on January 10, 1945, in Georgetown, he was the son of the late Charles Foster Johnson and the late Ruth Ethridge Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of United Christian Outreach, was the former assistant Water Superintendent and was retired from Georgetown Steel. He was a US Army veteran having earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” Device for his service during the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Johnson had a great love for Christmas and always enjoyed decorating his yard and helping others decorate for the holiday. He was a video game and computer enthusiast and enjoyed electronics. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bonnie H. Johnson of Georgetown; one daughter, Christy Johnson (Derek Nesbitt) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Candyce Watford (Brent), Kameron Vargas (Josh Halstead), JJ Zurawski (Kaitlin Cobb), Tristan Johnson and Savannah Johnson all of Georgetown; and four great grandchildren, Victoria Watford, Emy Vargas, Naomi Vargas and Vivian Halstead. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles F. "Chuck" Johnson, III. Funeral Services will be held at 5 PM Monday, August 24, 2020 at United Christian Outreach with Rev. Timothy Crabtree officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to United Christian Outreach, 1414 Gilbert St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
