Obituary of Cornelia Miller-Rodgers

Cornelia R. Miller-Rodgers, 96, widow of Archie D. “Red” Rodgers, Jr., passed away Friday, August 21, 2020. Born on September 25, 1923, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Harvey J. Rowe and the late Ella Howell Rowe. Mrs. Rodgers was a charter member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Sunday school class and the Young as Ever group. She was a member of the White Bridge Garden Club and the Business Professional Women’s Club. Mrs. Rodgers retired from South Carolina National Bank after 35 years of service. After retirement she volunteered at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed fishing on the Black River, gardening, watching the Atlanta Braves and ACC basketball. Survivors include a daughter, Marsha M. Wilson (Johnny) of Georgetown; two daughters in law, Vida Miller-Carter (Michael) of Pawleys Island and Wendy Miller of Summerville; three step children, Archie David Rodgers, III (Jerry) of Fairfax Station, VA, Barbara Parkerson (Warren) of Burke, VA, Nancy McPherson (Randy) of Irmo; six grandchildren, Jimmy Miller (Michelle) of Wilson, NC, Allyson Moye of Wilson, NC, Tabitha Keefer (Terry) of Summerville, Rory "Ro" Isaac (Julia) of Mt. Pleasant and Jennifer Thomas (Jay) of Penn Valley, CA and Joe Wilson (Christina) of Easley; eleven great grandchildren, Kristin, Lauren, Isaac, Alex, Madison, Kelsey, Rachel, Rosie, Sam, Emmaleigh and Witt; one great-great grandchild, Miles; one sister in law, Myrtle Rowe of Hemingway; and numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James D. Miller, Sr.; two sons, James D. Miller, Jr. and Charles R. Miller; one grandson, Winston O. "Winky" Miller; one step daughter, Mary Elizabeth Heaston; three sisters, Dorothy R. Roberts, Dorrell R. Grier and Lorene R. Tanner; three brothers, James E. Rowe, Nathan A. Rowe and Harvey "Junior" Rowe, Jr; step mother, Lottie R. Rowe; two step brothers, Mitchell Rawls and Samuel Rawls. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Frist Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 219 Cleland St. Georgetown, SC 29440 or Center Baptist Church, 2602 Schoolhouse Rd. Hemingway, SC 29554. Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced and face mask are requested.
