Obituary of Betty Matthews Creel

Betty Matthews Creel, 88, widow of Solomon Carl Creel, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Creel was born on September 24, 1931, in Hemingway, and was a daughter of the late John Thomas Matthews and the late Eva Irene McAlister Matthews. She was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church and served as a former Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Creel enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening and loved giving flowers from her yard to friends. Survivors include three children, Paul Matthews (Alice), Darlene Jordan and Bonnie Ackerman (Ronnie) all of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Lee Ackerman of Myrtle Beach, Ashley Ackerman (Lori) of Davidson, NC, Vanessa Hayes (Nathan) of Inman, Aaron Jordan of Conway and Pascha Anello of Little River; six great grandchildren, Noah Ackerman, Skylar Ackerman, Aiden Ackerman, Grace Ackerman, Braylon Moore of Myrtle Beach and Jonathan Hayes of Inman; a daughter in law, Christine Creel of Georgetown; a son in law, Earl Jordan of Andrews; a special sister in law, Joyce Matthews of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Creel; two sisters, Fabell Patches and Delia Preston; and three brothers, WA Matthews, Kenith Matthews and Haskell Matthews Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 6, 2020 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Earl Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Monday, January 6, 2020 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church.
