Obituary of Horace B. "HB" Mincey, Jr.

Horace B. “H.B.” Mincey, Jr., 77, husband of Patricia Nelson Mincey, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his home.

Born on June 22, 1942, in Winnsboro, he was a son of the late Horace B. Mincey, Sr. and the late Verla Cooper Mincey. Mr. Mincey was a United States Marine veteran and retired from International Paper Company after 44 years of service. He attended Ringel Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 114 and a supporter of Brookgreen Gardens. Mr. Mincey enjoyed fishing, shooting guns and working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; three children, Horace B. “Ben” Mincey, III of Surfside Beach, Kelly Hatfield of Georgetown and Gary R. Hatfield of Maryville, TN; seven grandchildren, Aaron Hatfield, Ashley Carr, CJ Strickland, Courtney Strickland (Robin), Keziah Mincey, Michael Mincey and Gabriel Mincey; two great grandchildren, Cayden Carr and Camden Carr; three sisters, Linda Young (Joe) of Yauhanna, Brenda Bessinger of Georgetown and Ann Burris (Bill) of Troy, NC; one brother, Michael Mincey of Georgetown; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Roxy.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Daron Mincey; and a sister, Faye Black.

The family will receive friends 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM, Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 3 PM with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Entombment will be in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
