I listened to mad dogs stories for 15yrs and enjoyed all of them. he had a great life until he got swamped in this boring town of georgetown. i kept him going for many years with food contributions and some books. i may never get to Scotland but i sure learned alot about it from my friend. and his father a survivor of Dunkirk in ww2 lost to tb years later. so glad he had wonderful friends from Massachusetts up in Leland that enjoyed his company as much as i did. after all his years on the water i keep asking myself how he could make such a mistake in the end but it makes me all the more cautious around my boat which is still next to his in the harbor.
I'd always try and bring books when I passed through Georgetown that I thought Mad Dog would enjoy. He in turn would give me books that I considered to be unreadable. His inquisitive mind gave him the ability to read and enjoy anything. I wished I could do that.
