William Sirignano

1924 — October 7, 2017

William Sirignano, MGySgt. (Ret.), 93, widower of Harriett Palms Sirignano, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Embrace Hospice House.

Born on July 6, 1924, in Everett, MA, he was a son of the late Stefano Sirignano and the late Michelina Candle Sirignano. Mr. Sirignano was a member of Infant of Prague Catholic Church and was a decorated US Marine veteran having proudly served his country for 32 years. Mr. Sirignano was a veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He received many honors during his military career to include the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation and the title “Hardcore Warrior”, a title only given to a select few that served during three wars.

Mr. Sirignano was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Federal Reserve Association and was the first person to ever receive the title of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He enjoyed many things in life, including spending time with his grandchildren and watching baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox.

Survivors include three daughters, Toni Condon of Georgetown, Leslie Moscato of North Reading, MA and Billie Wharton of Pawleys Island; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Philamena Gianelli of Everett, MA; one brother, Stephen Sirignano of Revere, MA; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife; mother and father; a stepmother, Carmella Sirignano; a granddaughter, Colleen Condon Thames; and two brothers, Tony Sirignano and Johnny Sirignano.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville, NC with Rev. Fr. Peter Shaw officiating.
