Wilfred Fleming Magann, Jr. ("Mac"), 80, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Conway Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mac was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. Mac served in the United States Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Ethan Allen during the Vietnam War. Following the war, Mac worked for his family's marine construction company, which brought him to the area to construct the Murrells Inlet Jetties. He stayed in the area following completion of the project, and he discovered his love of teaching and taught with Georgetown County for several years, continuing on as a substitute into retirement. Mac loved being on the water, gardening and spending time with family.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Kimberly Robbins-Magann; children, Wilfred Chandler Magann (Julia), Eugenia Hope Haynes (Alex), and William John Hope Magann (Anna); and seven grandchildren, Lauren Magann, Marcus Magann, Louisa Haynes, Elenor Haynes, Mary Hope Magann, Andy Magann and Wally Magann. He is also survived by his brother, William Magann (Connie) of Chesapeake, VA, his sister, Anne Debary of Portsmouth, VA, and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Hope Broderick Magann and Wilfred Fleming Magann, Sr., of Portsmouth, VA, and his second wife, Carole Hope Magann, of Rock Hill, SC.
A service honoring Mac's life will be held at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church on April 12, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive visitors following the service in the Family Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Mac's memory to Belin Memorial United Methodist Church.
