Thelma Carter Cribb, 96, widow of Leon Manning Cribb, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Prince George Health Care.
Born on April 15, 1919, in Georgetown County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert S. Carter and the late Carrie Dusenbury Carter. Mrs. Cribb was a 1937 graduate of Union High School, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a charter member of Carter’s Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Cribb enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two children, Manning L. Cribb (Roberta) of Georgetown and Doris Simmons (Dave) of Hemingway; six grandchildren, Sharon Jackson (Gary) of Surfside Beach, Keith Cribb (Vicki) of Georgetown, Gaye Simmons of North Myrtle Beach, Will Simmons of Johnsonville, Shelli Denne (Charlie) of Simpsonville and Patrick Cribb of Norfolk, VA ; 15 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Vera Nell Cribb (Odell) of Hemingway; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Cribb; one son, Herbert Earl Cribb; one brother, H.S. Carter; and four sisters, Gracie Smith, Ruby Pierce, Mary Glenn Mallard and Myrtle Carter.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. James Herring and Dr. Bob Teems officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
