Shepherd K. Lewis, Jr., 84, widower of Carolyn R. Lewis, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at his daughter’s home.
Born on January 13, 1940, in Darlington, he was a son of the late Shepherd K. Lewis and the late Grace Martin Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a US Navy veteran and retired from International Paper Mill after 40 years of service as a machinist. He attended Ringel Heights Baptist Church and was an active member of the Sonshine Sunday school class and used his talent of cooking with the Kitchen Committee. Mr. Lewis was also a member of the Swamp Fox Fellowship Riders where he enjoyed riding his bike and the fellowship of his bike friends. Mr. Lewis enjoyed being with his family, gardening, yard work, riding his motorcycle, music and dancing. Some of his most precious moments were time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grands.
Survivors include two children, Ricky A. Lewis (Pam) of Watertown, PA and Deborah L. Johnson (Eddie) of Georgetown; grandchildren, Kirk Lewis (Micaela) of Johnsonville, Jonathan Johnson (Ashley) of Georgetown and April M. Gutierrez (Kyle) of Georgetown; six great grandchildren, Dionte Lewis, Ethan Lewis, Aaliyah Lewis, Austin Jordan, Olivia Johnson and Amberlynn Gutierrez; one brother, Richard Lewis; one sister, Joyce Grice and a special friend, Allene Coats.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn L. Richardson, Pat Mincey and Jackie Rabon; two brothers, F.S. Rogers and Harry Rogers; and a special friend, Peggy Eaddy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 PM Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Inurnment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM Thursday at the church and other times at the home of his daughter.
