Rupert Barnett Pope, 75, husband of Janet Cooper Pope, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at his home. Born on April 3, 1945, in Hemingway, he was a son of the late Theron Kermit Pope and the late Annie Elmira Barnhill Pope. Mr. Pope attended Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church where he faithfully served on the bereavement committee. Mr. Pope was a United States Navy veteran and retired from Xerox after 36 years of service. Survivors include his beloved wife, Janet Cooper Pope of Georgetown; three sons “by his first wife”, Barney Pope (Christie) of St. Stephen, Thomas “Tee” Pope (Danielle) of Georgetown and Aaron Pope of Charleston; four grandchildren, Kevin Pope (Nicole) of Summerville, AJ Pope of St. Stephen, Taylor Pope of St. Stephen and Emma Pope of Georgetown; three brothers, Wendell Pope (Beulah) of Seneca, Gerald Pope (Betty) of Leicester, NC and Phillip Pope of Andrews; two sisters, Clara Ann Casselman (Lee) of Spartanburg and Vergie Jane Howard of Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in the Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 12 PM – 4 PM Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hugs for Horses, 215 Equestrian Dr. Georgetown, SC 29440 or to Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church Bereavement Fund, 8285 Saints Delight Rd. Andrews, SC 29510. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mr. Pope. Facemask are required and social distancing will be practiced.
