Ronnie Vardell Player, 73, beloved husband of Carolyn Kellahan Player, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his home.
Born on May 28, 1950, in Lake City, he was a son of the late Roy Vardell Player and the late Mildred Elizabeth McDaniel Player. After 49 years of service, Mr. Player retired from Georgetown Steel. During his nearly half-century career, he left a legacy of commitment and excellence. Outside of work, Mr. Player found joy in fishing, and had a passion for restoring classic cars.
Survivors include his wife of Andrews; two children, Bradley Player of Andrews and Kella Player Hanna (Wells) of Kingstree; three grandchildren, Reeves Player, Matthew Player and Estelle Hanna; three sisters, Wanda Boyd of Kingstree, Ann Bouchette (Tommy) of Johnsonville and Candi Garofalo (Bill) of Myrtle Beach; one brother, Glenn Player (Wanda) of Florence; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Player; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Boyd.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 17, 2024, in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
