Rev. Joseph Hewitt, Sr.

Rev. Joseph Kurtis Hewitt, Sr., 78, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at his son’s home.

Born on March 22, 1946, in Georgetown County, he was a son of the late Joseph Harlem Hewitt and the late Florence Chavis Browder. Rev. Hewitt was a US Navy veteran and enjoyed bass fishing and hunting. He was a talented musician and used his talents as a musical evangelist, traveling all over spreading the word of Jesus.

Survivors include his step father, Roland Browder (Jeanette) of Georgetown; two children, Linda Mitchell (John) of Bonneau and Joe Hewitt (Jennifer) of Moncks Corner; six grandchildren, Mikey Hewitt of Moncks Corner, Christopher Mitchell of Bonneau, Beverly Mitchell of Moncks Corner, Brandon Mitchell of Bonneau, Bradley Mitchell of Bonneau, and Mitchell of Bonneau; three great grandchildren, Isabella Lee Gaskins of Bonneau, Bentley Liabastre of MoncksCorner and Braxton Liabastre of Moncks Corner; two brothers, Frankie Hewitt (Carol) of Georgetown and Randy Hewitt (Lizzy) of Dade City, FL; a special nephew, Brandon Renwick of Moncks Corner; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hewitt; two children, Wendy Lee Hewitt and Avery Allen Hewitt; and a grandson, Anthony James Mitchell.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Monday, December 23, 2024, in Pennyroyal MemorialGardens. 

The family will receive friends at the graveside.
