Norma Wheeler Bruorton, 92, widow of Henry William Bruorton, Sr., passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at her son’s home.
Born on October 2, 1932, in Williamsburg County, she was the daughter of the late Norman Wheeler and the late Ruby Ackerman Wheeler. Mrs. Bruorton was a devoted member of Earle Methodist Church, where she shared her musical talents by playing the piano with grace and joy. Her commitment to the church extended beyond music; she was an active participant in the Women's Missionary Union (WMU) and a cherished helper with the Kids Crusaders program. In addition to her church activities, Mrs. Bruorton was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Bridge Club. Her love for nature and beauty was evident through her previous involvement with the Andrews Garden Club.
Mrs. Bruorton found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and her love for the beach and the Black River provided her with peace and happiness. Above all, Mrs. Bruorton’s heart was filled with love for her family. Her children, and especially her grandchildren, were the center of her universe. Mrs. Bruorton’s legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a family and community that will miss her dearly but will honor her memory by carrying forward her passion for life and service.
Survivors include two children, Henry William "Billy" Bruorton, Jr. (Pam) of Andrews and Lisa Bruorton Jones (Bobby) of Florence; two grandchildren, Henry William "Will" Bruorton, III (Hannah) of Andrews and Emily Bruorton Brett (Holden) of Andrews; and two great grandchildren, Beau Clemons Brett and Sylvia Paige Bruorton both of Andrews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, December 30, 2024, at Earle Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church.
The Bruorton family would like to thank Mrs. Roberta Taylor, Erica McFaddin, Jean Smith and Agape Hospice for the dedicated and loving care they provided for Mrs. Bruorton.
Memorials may be made to Earles Methodist Church or the Harmony Cemetery.
