Maxine Brown Etheridge, 86, widow of Joe Mosely Etheridge, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at Trident Medical Center.
Born on June 7, 1938, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Hardy Brown and Esther Flowers Brown. Mrs. Etheridge also served on the flower committee and helped with family night suppers. Mrs. Etheridge had a remarkable ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed walking, immersing herself in the pages of a good book and listening to the uplifting melodies of gospel music. These pastimes were not just hobbies, but reflections of a life lived with grace and gratitude.
Above all, Mrs. Etheridge cherished the time spent with her family. Her love knew no bounds when it came to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
Survivors include two sons, Joe M. Etheridge, Jr. (Betty) of Kingstree and Dr. Jon L. Etheridge (Bobbi) of Summerville; four grandchildren Christopher Kennedy (Louisa) of Kingstree, Erica Goodwin (Philip) of Kingstree, Carolyne Etheridge Carter (Tyler) of Summerville and Emily Maxine Etheridge of Summerville; four great grandchildren, Tiller Kennedy, Brooke Nicole Goodwin, Brinley Carolyne Carter and Ryan Mosely Carter; one brother, Hardy Brown (Karen) of Kingstree; three nephews, Larone Brown of Goose Creek, Richard Martier (Kim) of Summerville and Gaydon Brown (Shannon) of Kingstree; two nieces, Vickie Matthews (Steve) of Goose Creek and Olivia McClary (Robert) of Kingstree; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
