Mari Lou (Antin)Moore, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 10th, 2015 at her home in Pawleys Island, SC. Born on September 7, 1940 in Ironwood, MI, she was the daughter of the late Armas and Ali Antin. Ms. Moore was a graduate of Luther L. Wright High School, Ironwood, MI, Gogebic Community College , Northern Michigan University, and Wright State University. She was a very dedicated and respected English teacher at Fairmont High School in Kettering, OH for 32 years. During her tenure there, she served as President of the Kettering Classroom Teachers Association. Her many volunteer activities included tutoring elementary school children to read, working at her local hospital diabetic clinic and her new local library, participating in local and national campaign committees as well as working at the local polling booth. She loved the arts, and was a staunch supporter of the Dayton Theatre serving as an usher for fifteen years. As a long time member of Temple Beth Or, she was active in the education and music programs, served on their council and numerous committees. Her true love of service to Temple Beth Or was her devotion and membership in the choir. She only recently moved to Pawleys Island, SC where one of her daughters resided. She was very much looking forward to her new life, meeting new friends, finding new opportunities, and especially walking the beaches. Mari Lou loved travel and looked forward to her annual “Cousins” outing in the summer which took them to many interesting places. She was an avid reader and bridge player, but her greatest love was for her grandchildren. How she loved engaging them in conversation and word games. Survivors include 3 daughters, Joy Ann (Ken) Griffith, Wendy (Jeff) Brown, and Lynne (Jim) Hewitt; 8 grandchildren, Caleb and Courtney Griffith, Chad Hewitt, and Sarah, Jana, Laura, Noah and Nathan Brown; 3 great granddaughters, one brother, Rick (Karen) Antin and his family, Scott, Kari and Kristin. Services will be held Thursday, Oct 15th at Temple Beth Or, 5275 Marshall Rd, Kettering OH, with Rabbi David Burstein officiating. Memorial service will be held at 1:00, burial immediately following the service at David Cemetary followed by a reception at Temple Beth Or.
