Lawrence Fredric Whitlock, 87, husband of Biddy Anne Keeney Whitlock, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at his home.

Born on September 12, 1937, in Coal Fork, WV, he was a son of the late John Van Whitlock and the late Beulah Wills Whitlock. Mr. Whitlock devoted over 25 years of service at the Weapons Station in Charleston, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for commitment and work ethic. His career was but one aspect of a life well-lived; he balanced his professional responsibilities with a deep love for his family and various interests that brought him joy.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Whitlock found solace in nature through hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with the beauty of the outdoors. Moreover, he was a big supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers ball games, a testament to his love of sports and the sense of camaraderie it fostered. His enthusiasm was not limited to spectating; he also shared his passion for baseball by coaching recreational teams, where his guidance and encouragement helped to shape the next generation of players.

Survivors include his wife of Pawleys Island; three children, Chris Whitlock (Dana) of Pawleys Island, David Whitlock (Christy) of Pawleys Island and Nancy Murrell (Chris) of Pawleys Island; five grandchildren, Kimberly Mullen (Will) of Johns Island, John Daniel Whitlock of Charleston, Wesley Whitlock of Charleston, Caroline Whitlock of Asheville, and Cooper Anne Whitlock of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Beth Whitlock.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Ridgeway Funeral Home. 

The burial will be at 1PM Friday, November 1, 1024, in the in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, in Cross Lanes, WV.
