Sambo Tilton

Larry “Sambo” Tilton, Jr., 61, husband of Sandy M. Tilton, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at Grand Strand Medical Center.

Born on April 6, 1964, in Georgetown, he was a son of Pastor Rebecca Ann “Becky” Blake Tilton and the late Larry Tilton, Sr. Sambo was a member of Bloomingvale Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Sambo was known for his strong work ethic, taking great pride in his work. Above all, Sambo loved his family. He was a devoted husband, and a loving son, father and grandfather. His family brought immeasurable joy to his life. Sambo leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship and fond memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy M. Tilton of Andrews; mother, Pastor Becky B. Tilton of Andrews; two children, Larry Elek Tilton (Courtney) and Sammie Jo Tilton (Justice) all of Andrews; three grandchildren, Ethan Lane Tilton, Sawyer Landen Tilton and Samuel Mobley Tilton all of Andrews; one sister, Tammy Moore (Shon) of Andrews; one brother, Randy Tilton (Jill) of Andrews; mother-in-law, Velma Mobley of Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Tilton; paternal grandmother, Annie Tilton; father-in-law, Sammy Mobley; and a special cousin, Stevie Floyd.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, April 25, 2025, at Bloomingvale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Bloomingvale Baptist Church.
