Katherine Lawson Johnson, 82, widow of William C. Johnson, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at her home.
Born on November 16, 1942, in Aynor, she was a daughter of the late John Henry Lawson and the late Izzy Barnhill Lawson. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the hospitality committee and worked with VBS. She enjoyed the simple things in life that included tending to her chickens, watching birds, crossword puzzles and being outdoors. Mrs. Johson retired from the Georgetown County School District after serving more than 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, William Henry Johnson (Teresa) of Georgetown and Norman Scott Johnson of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Ashley Johnson Nesbitt (Aiden) of Georgetown and William Dale Johnson (Lindsay Wilcox) of Georgetown; two great grandchildren, Piper Nesbitt and Claire Nesbitt both of Georgetown; one sister, Dorothy Vaught of Columbia; and two special nieces, Debbie Hill Nesbitt (Ronnie) of Georgetown and Johnnie Mae Baxley (Larry) of Sumter.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Lawson Graham and Gracie Lawson Hill; and a brother, Junior Lawson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, January 20, 2025, at Johnson Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
