Jo Perritt

Josephine Bartlette “Jo” Perritt, 81, widow of George Stephen “Steve” Perritt, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on June 5, 1943, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Jospeh Bartlette and the late Eva Weeks Bartlette. Mrs. Perritt was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday school teacher. She retired from Campbell Soup and later retired again from Gold Kist. Mrs. Perritt found great joy in the simple pleasures of life that included cooking, baking and shopping. Above all else, Mrs. Perritt’s love for her family was immeasurable, and they were her greatest accomplishment. 

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Ridgeway (Timmie) of Sumter; two grandchildren, Scott Ridgeway (Kendaley) of Sumter and Chase Ridgeway of Georgetown; four great grandchildren, Hunter Ridgeway, Kennedy Ridgeway, Weston Ridgeway and Sadie Ridgeway; a brother-in-law, Charles Vitello of Paxville; numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Cummins and Jean Vitello. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 21, 2024, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
