Joseph T. Towery

Joseph Turner “Joe” Towery, 60, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 14, 1958, in Georgetown, he was a son of Betty Shaw Towery Long and the late Captain Herman Turner Towery. Mr. Towery was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men’s Group. He was a graduate of The Citadel where he earned a bachelors degree in business administration. Mr. Towery enjoyed hunting, reading and playing chess.

Survivors include his mother of Georgetown; one brother, Timothy Towery of Georgetown; one niece, Christin Marie Hall (Sean) of Oklahoma City, OK; and two great nephews, Gabriel Hall and Nate Hall.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Harriett Marie Shaw; and paternal grandmother, Blanche Towery.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Dora Gafford officiating. Inurnment will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
