Jesse Hugh McCutchen, 67, husband of Barbara “Bobbie” Sharpe McCutchen, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his home. Born on December 7, 1948, in Bishopville, he was a son of the late Willie David McCutchen, Jr. and the late Ethel Hooley McCutchen. Mr. McCutchen was a member of First Baptist Church, the Billy Douglas Sunday School Class and the Winyah High School Class of 1970. He retired from Georgetown Steel after 35 years of service. Mr. McCutchen enjoyed wood working and was well known for the special wooden boxes that can be found all throughout this area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of Pawleys Island; three children, Michael McCutchen of Garden City, Jessica Goolsby (David) of Murrells Inlet and Ronald McCutchen of Conway; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla, Nick, Sean, Tasha, Taylor, Maddie and Bryce; two sisters, Gail Martin (Len) of Georgetown and Shirley Moore (Merwin) of Pawleys Island; one brother, Bobby McCutchen (Mary) of Pawleys Island; one sister in law, Anne McCutchen of Georgetown; one aunt, Margie Taylor of Andrews; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, David McCutchen. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Sherrill officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Building Fund, 219 Cleland St. Georgetown, SC 29440 or to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
