Jeanette Britt Smith

Jeanette Britt Smith, 86, widow of Donald Blake Smith, died peacefully at her home on November 13, 2018 at her home.

Born on June 1, 1932, in Fair Bluff, NC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Ethridge Britt and the late Dura Fields Britt. Mrs. Smith met her husband following his return from WWII. Following the career of her husband in the Air Force, they were stationed in New Mexico, Florida and Alaska before settling back in Georgetown to raise their four children. Mrs. Smith was a member of Screven Baptist Church for more than 50 years and was a member of the Georgetown Artist Guild.  She was a baker of fine wedding cakes, a lover of animals and her gardens were the focus of much of her art.

Survivors include four children, Arnold Smith (Katherine), Steven Smith (Jane Vernon), Carol Gay (Alex) all of Pawleys Island and Scott Smith of Delray Beach, FL; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Britt (Betty) of Georgetown and Harley Britt (Shirley) of Lexington SC.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Donald Blake Smith; and three brothers, Cecil Britt, Simpson Britt and Joseph Britt.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Screven Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM at the church.
