James Ronald Miller, Sr., 84, widower of Verma Nobles Miller, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his home.
Born on January 8, 1933, in the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown County, he was a son of the late Archie James Miller and the late Nellie Moore Miller. Mr. Miller was a United States Army veteran having served as a Military Police Officer while stationed in Germany from 1953 to 1955. He retired from International Paper Company after 45 years of service. Mr. Miller was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon, choir member, past president of the Brotherhood and member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a Mason and past master of the Winyah Masonic Lodge #40 and a member of the Omar Shrine. Mr. Miller enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, James Ronald “Ronnie” Miller, Jr. (Eugenia) of Georgetown; one grandson, James Ronald “Ron” Miller, III (Elizabeth) of Lexington; and one great grandson, Bennett Wade Miller of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alton L. Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Ringel Heights Baptist Church.
