James Walker “Jim” Harrelson, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Prince George Healthcare Center.
Born on January 17, 1937, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Percy Leon Harrelson and the late Ruby Lee Hughes Harrelson. Mr. Harrelson served in the National Guard and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Harrelson’s career was diverse which included owning and operating Harrelson Clearing and Earth Moving, being a Massey Ferguson dealer, selling cars for Hemingway Ford Motor Company and lastly working with Tidewater Properties selling real estate.
Along side his passion of being a salesman, Mr. Harrelson also had a great love for farming, especially tobacco, and living the cowboy lifestyle though working with horses, moving to Arizona and always wearing his cowboy hat. Mr. Harrelson was a member of the NRA and had his private pilot’s license.
Survivors include four daughters, Deborah Taylor of Georgetown, Pam Branham (Skippy) of Georgetown, Tracy Ard (Jeff) of Georgetown and Jamie Prince (Brad) of Andrews; one step son, Bruce Crosby (Liz) of Gilbert, AZ; ten grandchildren, Ashley Taylor (Bentley) of Myrtle Beach, Chase Downing (Kate) of Huntersville, NC, Matt Branham (Maria) of Georgetown, Kelby Branham (Casey) of Georgetown, RD Prince of Georgetown, Harrelson McKenzie of Andrews, Caroline Prince of Georgetown, Walker McKenzie of Andrews, Hugh Prince of Andrews and Cal Prince of Andrews; five great grandchildren, Cora Downing, Nolan Downing, Beau Prince, Nico O'Hara and Hartley Davis ; one niece, Suzy Ruffner of Romney, WV; one nephew, Geary Harrelson of Myrtle Beach; three great nieces, Kimberly Markease (Donnie) of Catawba, SuEllen Weasenforth (John) Romney, WV and Ellen Cliff (Myles) of Sterling, VA; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Percy Leon Harrelson, Jr. and Laneau Harrelson; and one nephew, LH Harrelson.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Friday, April 12, 2024, in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home
