James Allen “Jimmy” Cooper, 71, husband of Mattie Bullard Cooper, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on June 20, 1945, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Ernest Jenkins Cooper and the late Ida Mae Trimble Driggers. Mr. Cooper was a US Navy veteran and retired from the Georgetown Steel Mill after 33 years of service. He was a member of Screven Baptist Church and enjoyed watching the Clemson Tigers play, playing golf and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Missy Vause (Eric) of Wilmington, NC and Nicole Ward (fiancé, Warren Moore) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Ryan Vause, Dallas Ward, Matthew Vause, Josh Ward and Summer Vause; one sister, Frances Shelley of Georgetown; three brothers, Bobby Cooper (Lynette) of Andrews, Mike Cooper (Sue) of Manning and Tony Cooper of Manning; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Johnny Gossett of Pawleys Island.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wyndell Cooper, Donnie Cooper and Tommy Cooper; and two sisters, Marlene Driggers and Honar Mae Parsons.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, January 27, 2017 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM – 1 PM Friday at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
