Ginger Lois McCants Haithcock, 64, widow of Homer Edward Haithcock, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 27, 1960, on the Naval Station in New Port, RI, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lavern McCants and the late Ernestine Cox Bauer. Ginger spent her entire life in Georgetown, where she became a beloved local storyteller and self-proclaimed local historian. She loved her town and all of its history, spending the last 20 years offering history/ghost tours to locals and tourists alike. Ginger loved dressing up and sharing her favorite stories and historical tales.

Ginger had the heart of a giver and dedicated herself to helping others through fundraisers and setting up donations, successfully fulfilling Christmas donations for two families this past week. She was a devoted member of Graves Southern Baptist Church where she worked with the Children’s Ministry. On top of being a beloved community storyteller and faithful church member, she was a mom, a Gingie, daughter, sister and loyal friend to many. 

Survivors include two children, Brooke Cox (Ron) of Andrews and Amber Pomranky (Anthony) of Greer; a step son, Homer Haithcock of Summerville; six grandchildren, Cameron Cox, Amya Cox, Ashlyn Pomranky, Ashton Pomranky, Christian Haithcock (Annaliese) and Bella Hancock; step-father, Butch Bauer of Andrews; two sisters, Brenda Gordan (S.M.) of Georgetown and Tammy Weaver of Andrews; one nephew, Tommy Gordon (Kim) of Pawleys Island; great niece, Katie Howle (Drew) of Ft. Mill; a great nephew, Luke Gordon of Nashville; an aunt, Dale Presutti of Summerville; mother-in-law, Virginia Haithcock of Conway; and numerous cousins and other special family members.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Elijah James Eric Cox; maternal grandparents, Jasper and Retha Cox; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Katie McCants.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Graves Southern Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
