Geary Harrelson

James Geary Harrelson, 70, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at his home.   Born on September 16, 1953, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Laneau Hughes Harrelson and the late Glenna Rudarpth Miller Tippett. He was a proud member of the Myrtle Beach Shell Club, where he shared his passion for seashells with fellow enthusiasts, delighting in the beauty and stories each shell carried. Geary dedicated 28 years of his life to Lowe’s, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic, helpful nature, and friendly smile. Before his tenure at Lowe’s, Geary worked at Belk, where he developed many lasting friendships and a reputation for kindness and reliability.   Outside of work, Geary found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved exploring flea markets, always on the hunt for unique treasures to add to his extensive collections of Coca-Cola memorabilia and milk bottles. His love for a good home-cooked meal was well known among his family and friends. Above all else, Geary had a special love for his family and cherished the times they spent together.   Survivors include two nieces, Kimberly Markease (Donnie) of Catawba, SC and Cynthia Hannah of Summerville; four great nephews, Eli Markease of Rock Hill, Austin Hannah of Summerville, Hunter Hannah of Summerville and Lane Hannah of Summerville; one great niece, Emma Hannah of Summerville; special cousins, Debbie Taylor of Georgetown, Pam Branham (Skippy) of Georgetown, Tracy Ard (Jeff) of Georgetown and Jamie Prince (Brad) of Andrews; and numerous other cousins.   He was preceded in death by a brother, LH Harrelson, Jr.   Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 15, 2024, in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
