Fredaricka Alexandria Simmons

1947 — April 18, 2021

Fredaricka Alexandria Simmons, born on June 5, 1947, second daughter of the late Greer Edge Simmons and the late Belah Cannon Simmons, departed her earthly life on Sunday, April 18, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer. Freda graduated Hemingway High School and South Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Surgical Technology. She enjoyed a career in medicine working as a Surgical Technician and later as an Ophthalmic Technician. Freda enjoyed many opportunities to volunteer as a Surgical Technician with the former Dr. and NC Senator John Codington. She along with Dr. Codington’s medical team traveled for nine years to Haiti providing free and much needed surgeries to those who would have otherwise not received medical care. These caring trips ended only due to political unrest that besieged Haiti during this time. Freda, a gypsy soul, loved to travel, was always the ultimate hostess, outdoors woman, hilariously funny and always kind and welcoming. Freda is survived by her youngest sister Lisa Greer Justice and her husband Michael Justice, their son Ryan and daughter Rivers. Freda also leaves to cherish her memory her niece Angela Rogers and her two sons, Andrew and Jackson Lewis. Freda’s nephew Jeffery Rogers, wife Anna and their children Greer, Davis and Avery. She was preceded in death by her parents; older sister, Sylvia Rogers, her husband Buddy Rogers; third sister, Mar Elia Sanders; and niece, Neelee. The family gives thanks to all who have shown love and care to Freda and family. Please choose to honor Freda by loving life. Funeral services will be private. Online condolences may be left at www.ridgewayfh.com Ridgeway Funeral Home of Georgetown is in charge of the arrangements. (843) 485-4242
