Frances Carol Ard Matthews, 86, widow of James M. Matthews, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Blue Ridge Health Care in Georgetown.
Born on August 16, 1934, in McCall, SC, she was a daughter of the late Harley P. Ard and the late Lula Mae Driggers Ard. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, crocheting and a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Roberts (Berry) of Georgetown and Pam Hancock (Don) of Effingham; four grandchildren, Michael Matthews (Rosie) of Pleasant Hill, Jamie Matthews (Leeann) of Andrews, Donald Hancock of Effingham and Tracy Fields (Keith) of Effingham; 11 great grandchildren, Cheyenne (Brady), Dauston, Abby, Caleb, Connor, Mikayla, Jacob, Sloanne, Stokes, Brandon and Cody; one sister, Joyce Matthews of Georgetown; three brothers, Buddy Ard (Pat) of Hemingway, Edward Ard of Eden, NC and Roger Ard of Mullins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Allen; two brothers, Jimmy Ard and Evans Watts; one sister in law, Charline Ard; and two brothers in law, Curt Allen and Kenneth Matthews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
