Elizabeth Hearl Duke, 78, wife of Thomas A. Duke, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, at MUSC. Mrs. Duke was born on January 27, 1945, in Conway, to the late Richard Hearl and the late Virginia Pinner Hearl. She was a member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church and worked with the Georgetown County School District for more than 30 years. Mrs. Duke enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her roses, making sure her house was kept in order and most of all spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; four children, Robin Tanner (Cale) of Georgetown, Donna Gray (Robert) of Georgetown, Susan Rooney (Jim) of Aynor and Tommy Duke of Aynor; eight grandchildren, Whitney Causey (Kenneth) of Georgetown, Shelby Newton (Jamie) of Andrews, Brooke Gray of Georgetown, Candace Gray of Georgetown, Jason Duke of Aynor, Josh Duke of Aynor and Gage Rooney of Aynor; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Parsons of Georgetown; one brother-in-law, Glen Camlin of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kari Oliver; and two sisters, Peggy Camlin and Linda Floyd. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM before the service.
