David Edward Curry

1951 — July 5, 2019

David Edward Curry, 68, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at his home.

Born on January 10, 1951, in Stockton, CA, he was the son of the late David P. Curry, Jr. and the late Nettie Emogene Saylors Curry. Mr. Curry attended Porter Military Academy and was a graduate of Winyah High School where he played on the basketball team and baseball team.

Mr. Curry was the former owner and operator of Curry’s Cleaners and after retirement he continued to work for Carolina Dry Cleaners. He served on the Georgetown County School Board from 2008-2010 and was a member of the Johnnie Johnson Hunting Club and the GAMECOCK Club.

Mr. Curry had a great love for baseball which lead him to coaching for many years with the Georgetown County Recreational Department and with the Georgetown High School, where they won the State Championship in 1988. Along with his love for baseball and hunting, Mr. Curry enjoyed riding the roads of Georgetown County and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include two children, Jacob S. Curry and Anna J. Curry both of Georgetown; stepson, Michael Ward (Katie) of GA; two grandchildren, Pierce Shelley and Walyn Smith both of Georgetown; one sister, Jeanne Waldron of Georgetown; and a nephew, Sam Waldron of Georgetown.

Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM Monday, July 8, 2019 at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
