Dalton William Paschal, 100, of Georgetown, passed away early morning July 7th 2019, at Embrace Hospice House. Mr. Paschal was born April 11, 1919, in Leaksville, North Carolina, the son of Jesse Clarence Paschal and Prim Ellen Caudle Paschal. Dalton married Nell Bernice Altman on March 14, 1940. The couple had been married 76 years at the time of Nell’s death in 2016.
Mr. Paschal came to Georgetown to work with Georgetown Ice Company. He was also employed by Georgetown Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He retired in 1983 after working many years with the heating and electrical maintenance section of the Georgetown County Department of Education.
Dalton was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Keystone Sunday School Class.
Mr. Paschal served in the US Army in World War II, where he was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and received a Commendation from the French Government for his service. Dalton was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Winyah Masonic Lodge. Since retiring, Mr. Paschal enjoyed traveling with his wife and dear friends, and served his Church and community until his age slowed his abilities. He enjoyed living at Morningside in Georgetown and at Arbor Landing at Pawleys prior to his move to Embrace.
Mr. Paschal is survived by two daughters, Carolyn P. Saunders of Surfside Beach and Debra P. Tyson (Phillip) of DeBordieu; three grandsons, Robert Dalton Saunders of Pawleys Island, Brian Paschal Saunders of Surfside Beach and Adam Spencer Tyson (Joy) of Goose Creek; one granddaughter, Chelsea Ellen Gibson (Benjamin) of Richardson, Texas; two great grandchildren, Lucy Knox Tyson and Lincoln Wyatt Gilbert; two brothers, Larry Paschal and John Paschal (Gracie); one sister, June Purcell; sisters-in-law, Anne Paschal, Frances Paschal and Betty W. Paschal; brother-in-law, Hurley Quackenbush, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Paschal was predeceased by his wife, six brothers; Pat, J.P., Dewey, Charles, J.C. and Pete, two sisters; Dale Quackenbush and Carol Dillard, and sisters-in-law; Virginia Paschal and Betty H. Paschal.
Funeral services will be 12 Noon, July 10, 2019, at Screven Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Aubrey Floyd. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11AM – 12 Noon, preceding the funeral service, at Screven Baptist Church.
