Adolphe Vermont III, (Capt. Sandy Vermont) passed away Saturday, October 15th 2016.
Born September 25, 1944 in Hutchinson, KS he was the son of the late Adolphe “Dolph” Vermont Jr and the late Elizabeth Gaskin Vermont. He lived most of his life in South Carolina, working as a commercial fisherman and using his passion for history to open a tourism business in 1985 in Georgetown, SC. He had a lifelong involvement in wildlife conservation. He was a master storyteller who enjoyed teaching others about the history, mystery and magic of the Lowcountry.
Survivors include four children, Connie Vermont Watts (Chuck) of Lexington, SC, Chip Vermont (Ann) of Pawleys Island, SC, Katie Faatz (Eric) of Aurora, CO, and Anne Shearer (Justin) of Sagle, ID, eight grandchildren and sister Joan Vermont of Boiling Springs, SC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jones Vermont.
His family will receive friends at Ridgeway Funeral Home Saturday from 3-5. Funeral service will be Sunday at Francis Marion Park on Front Street in Georgetown at 3pm.
