Robert “Bobby” Summers, age 65, of Pawleys Island, SC passed away on May 19th, 2021. He was a native of Tampa, FL. but was well-traveled in his earlier years until he put down roots and decidedly called Pawleys Island home. He loved the area because he was never far from the water that was his second home. He spent most of his life working with his hands in construction, but his heart came through in his hardwood flooring projects, where his skill and knowledge came together to create rich and beautiful designs in homes that are appreciated by so many and will live on for generations even though their artist has passed on. Prior to retirement, he shared his wit, sense of humor and sometimes sarcasm at the guard house of The Reserve, meeting and greeting all who passed through their gates.
Anyone who knew Bobby would tell you that he was a strong, proud man who never missed a day of work and always enjoyed a good day on the water, a Sunday afternoon watching the races and competing in dart tournaments. The simple things were always the most important with him.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Debi, his daughter Sherry Bond, son in law, Michael Bond, his brothers, James Summers and Jimmie Summers, sisters in law, Debbie Summers and Teresa Summers, nephews, Matthew Summers and Kyle Summers, first wife, Sheila Summers and other family and friends.
Bobby is preceded in death by parents, Clifton and Carol Summers.
The family is having a private service to honor his life and love of the water, so we encourage all who knew him to take to the river on Saturday June 12th in his memory as we will be taking him on one final boat ride.
