Bobbie Faye Hammond King, 88, widow of Max Alfred King, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at her daughter’s home.
Born on October 30, 1936, in Tabor City, NC, she was a daughter of the late Martin D. Hammond and the late Roxie Buffkin Hammond. Mrs. King was a member of the Georgetown Church of Christ and contributed to the spirit of faith and fellowship that defined her life.
Mrs. King had a passion for gardening and spent countless hours mowing her own yard or working in her flower beds and garden. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for others, an act of love that brought her family and friends together. Her love for sewing was equally remarkable.
Mrs. King is remembered not just for her accomplishments but for the love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of care, nurturing, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra K. Moody (Ted) of Georgetown and Charlotte Altman of Pawleys Island; one grandson, Gwen Allen Altman, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; two great grandchildren, Anna Sophia Altman and Daniil Allen Altman both of Mt. Pleasant; one sister-in-law, Betty Pitcock of Augusta, GA; one brother-in-law, D.P. Arnold of West Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; a son-in-law, Gwen A. Altman, Sr.; seven brothers, Franklin Hammond (Eloise), Elery Hammond (Frances), Huston Hammond (Ethel), Aaron Hammond (Janie), Martin Hammond (Pat), Joseph Hammond (Betty) and Jimmy Hammond (Shirley); and four sisters, Frankie Jewel Goins (Horace), Peggy Jean Johnson (Lloyd), Darcus Ann Bullard (Honree), and Katheryn Mayers (John C.).
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Georgetown Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
