Obituary of Thomas Olin Newton, Sr.

Thomas Olin Newton, Sr., 81, beloved husband of Evelyn Blake Newton, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home. Born on April 16, 1935, in Georgetown County, he was a son of the late Clarence L. Newton, Sr. and the late Sarah Caroline Thomas Newton. Mr. Newton attended Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church and Gourdines Chapel and was a US Army veteran. He was a retired Millwright Superintendent and was a member of the Jack Hill Hunting Club. Mr. Newton enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of Andrews; three children, Brenda Goodwin (Barry) of Orangeburg, Toni McCutchen (Harold) of Andrews and Thomas Olin Newton, Jr. (Donna) of Florence; seven grandchildren, Michelle Brickle (Andy) of Orangeburg, Christopher Goodwin (Jessie) of Orangeburg, Brandy Steedley (Lester) of Andrews, Caroline McCutchen (Luke Reeves) of Andrews, Jordan Newton of Florence, Zack Newton of Florence, and Blake Newton of Florence; four great grandchildren, Ashlie Brickle, Andrew Brickle, Skylar Stillinger and Alyssa Goodwin all of Orangeburg; one sister, Sara Nell Thompson of Mayesville, NC; Clarence L. Newton, II of Thomasville, AL, Joseph Newton of Andrews and Ronnie Newton of Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lee Herndon; and two brothers, Willie Dan Newton and Warren Newton. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, April 17, 2017 at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Chris Browder, Rev. Lester Steedley and Rev. Randy Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the Gourdines Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
